According to Billboard magazine Taylor Swift is killing the game, with earnings of over $39 million in 2013.
Taylor’s accomplishments include, album sales for Red, ringing in 8th among all of billboard’s Money Makers, $10 million in digital downloads, she ranked 5th in streaming royalties and pulled in over $30 million for the “Red” tour alone. Then there is also the endorsements including Keds, Elizabeth Arden and Diet Coke. This year Swift bested herself by beating $35 million from the top of Billboards Money Makers list two years ago.
Fellow country star, Kenny Chesney came in at a close second with a cool $32 million fueled by success of his “Life on a Rock” album as well as his No Shoes Nation tour.
Rounding out the top three, Justin Timberlake’s served up a “20/20 Experience” with new album and two tours, one with Jay-Z and as well as a solo stint, bringing in over $31 million. Plus “Suit & Tie” managed to generated the highest first-week plays in Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40 chart history. The Legends of the Summer tour with Jay Z made $60 million from a twelve shows and Justin’s solo tour efforts grossed $43 million.
Rock ‘n’ Roll legends Bon Jovi and The Rolling Stones cemented themselves as true music gods by coming in at #4 with 29,436,801 and #5 with $26,225,121. respectively. Bon Jovi hit the road with the “Because We Can Tour” and the Rollings Stones celebrated the 50th Anniversary selling out ever stop on their 15 city tour. In fact, in addition to Bon Jovi and Rolling Stones, ‘old-heads [no shade] literally gave the young folks a run for their money.
